If you will visit Istanbul and if you enjoy good meals, you can not miss one of the best restaurants in this beautiful city, the Lokanta Maya.
The chef opened Lokanta Maya last year – a casual neighbourhood bistro with a brief menu of contemporary Turkish cooking and seasonal specials. Since opening, Maya has been showered with well-deserved praise, locally and internationally, quickly earning the place an enthusiastic following. The mucver, zucchini fritters, are so popular that Şenol wrote the recipe on a mirror in the dining room so customers would stop asking for it.
Although the majority of dishes on the menu are inspired from Aegean and Mediterranean cuisines, the menu is varied enough to include specialties from other regions of Turkey, such as hamsi (anchovy) from the Black Sea Region. The décor is quite minimal with rustic tables giving the venue quite a homey feel.
