i-SKI, a modern chalet in the Mount-Lebanon, by Accent Design Group

Sitting on a prominent site with scenic views of the Mount-Lebanon range all the way down to the sea, this project combines a vernacular look associated with traditional chalets in the mountain regions in the area, with a contemporary treatment of facades and internal spaces, offering a combination of 6 duplexes varying in sizes from 110m2 to 135m2, contained within 3 main units. The circulation space acts as the main divider between the 3 units, enveloped by a skin of wooden louvers that doubles as a screen hiding the openings behind it.

The internal circulation alternates at some levels, shifting to the external façade on the lateral sides, creating an expressive element that exposes the internal movement to the outside. This operation also frees the internal spaces and allows for a more flexible interior layout.

The complex is situated in the town of Kfardebian in Mount Lebanon, at an altitude of 1800 m, close to both ski resorts of Faqra and Faraya. The use of various materials such as wood, slate and concrete on the façade gives it a warmer character, and allows it to blend in within its natural environment.
