18th started the 2012 edition of The Present Design, part of Design Days Dubai. In Maraya Art Center from 18th October until 28th November, you can see national designers discuss  the design in UAE and the contemporary designers proudly call their work  as artistic.

The next 23th October at 7 pm starts the debate with three national designers moderate for Cyril Zammit, Design Days Dubai director.The panelist have Khawla Al-Marri that creates culturally inspered contemporary art and design prejects. Her work involves adopting and learning  from the much- renowned works of Warhol, Van Gogh and Picasso, and tastefully merging the tradition of native UAE; Khalid Mezaina founder of the young brand labeled krossbreed, which promisses contemporary, culturally- infused designs with an unconentional flare. Khalid is an active social networker and blogger. He has created a range of limited edition t-shrits titled “from me to you” as a homage to the gesture of gift giving;

Zaina Adhami, a  grafic artist, born in UAE and currently living between Dubai and San Francisco. She developed the concept of the Daly Everyday Dubai, where explores her interests in new media, and visual articlation.

These three guests will be discuss the factors at work in the current design enviroment and explore the visual role play to be played by independent designers.  They’ll explore questions such as how the panelists would discribe design in the UAE as well as what they are looking forward to in the terms of the development of design.

Design Days Dubai is the first and only fair in Middle East and South Asia entirely dedicates to the collectible and limited edition. Itself  established as  the flagship fórum the design industry and a catalyst that drives its growth in the region.

The 2013 edition will take place in downtown Dubai from 18h until 21st March in.
